In the past year or so I have decided to take some steps to improve my health and well-being. I could see that the lifestyle I was living was going to become my downfall in later years. That was enough to shock me into doing something about it
I was suffering from a myriad of ailments and medical complaints. Of course, doctors just wanted to treat the problems rather than find the source of them. I got fed up of “popping pills” to solve my malfunctioning body, so I stopped and changed my life around.
The good news is that you can do that as well! If your body isn’t as healthy as it should be, it’s not too late to fix it! The following steps will help you to lead a healthier and fitter life:
Find Out Your Ideal Weight
The first thing you need to do is work out how much weight you need to lose (or put on) to get to a “healthy” level. In general, your ideal weight gets based on how tall you are and your gender. There are plenty of guides online that can help you work out your ideal weight.
Make sure you do that first before you try any of the other tips on this page. You need a goal to reach, after all!
Eat More Fruit and Vegetables
There’s no denying that there is a huge case for cutting out junk food from your diet. You should be replacing it with fresh fruit and vegetables. They have a high nutritional value and can prevent painful medical complaints from happening.
You might not think it, but it doesn’t cost a fortune to eat healthy food. Now you have no excuse to cut out junk and processed foods from your diet!
Get Plenty Of Exercise
Eating well is only part of the story. You also need to have regular exercise to make your body function better. Start off by doing simple things like a walk around the block each day. If you have a pet dog, take them out twice a day; you’ll both love it!
I recommend signing up to your local gym. That way, you don’t need to invest in any expensive equipment at home. Plus, it’s a great way to meet like-minded individuals.
Plan Your Prescriptions
Sometimes you will need to take medicine regardless of your lifestyle choices. Some people may suffer from asthma for reasons out of their control, for instance.
If you have to buy medicine on a regular basis, be savvier with how you do it. You could get a prescription discount card to save money. And you might wish to consider alternative medicines that cost less. You could even find that leading a healthier lifestyle will stop the need for medicine!
Get Plenty Of Sleep
There is much debate about what is “enough” sleep. I am of the opinion that you need at least eight hours to function well during the day. Anything less and your brain starts to compensate. If it does that too much, your body will soon suffer the consequences.
Now you know what to do, it’s time to get busy!
