Are you suffering with adult acne? Well, no need to feel bad. It affects a lot of us and there are a few things you can do to make it a bit better. Here are four of the most effective ways to treat your adult acne. From changing your diet to applying some specific treatments to your skin, there’s always going to be something you can do.
1. Drink More Water
The actual extent to which water provides you with any skincare benefit is debated, but experts are generally in agreement that drinking more water can help you in some way or another. It’s really quite a simple thing to add to your daily routine and the positive effects of drinking more water extend beyond mere skin benefits. Just carry a trusty water bottle with you at all times and take a sip whenever you’re thirsty. It’s definitely a good habit to get into.
2. Shave Carefully
A lot of of people may think that they have acne, when it actuality they just have razor bumps on their face due to not shaving properly. If you can give yourself a smooth shave, you may find that your skin clears up quite quickly. A surprising number of people are not shaving properly – check out our recent blog post to learn more about what you can do for a smooth shave.
3. Eat Less Dairy
Dairy may be delicious, but as it turns out, it can actually be a cause of acne. Cutting down on your dairy intake could be quite a good idea, if you’re acne-prone. Much like drinking more water has benefits beyond helping your skin, eating less dairy can also help you to overcome other issues too. Instead of regular milk on your cereal in the morning, why not use soy milk? Instead of a cheese sandwich at lunch, why not opt for ham salad or something healthier?
4. Take Acne Medication
If you need to take some pills to get rid of your acne, so be it. Sometimes changes to your diet and lifestyle just won’t work, so the easiest thing to do is to try some medication. Oxytetracycline acne treatment is something you might like to try, if you were looking for suggestions. When taken regularly, it can help to clear up acne within eight to twelve weeks. This might seem slow, but this sort of thing is never going to happen overnight.
Acne can be a real frustration and hopefully these suggestions will help you to get rid of it. If it’s causing you any physical pain, visit your GP or speak to an online doctor.
While you may think that acne looks bad, don’t forget that you are probably judging yourself a thousand times more harshly than anybody else will. It’s sure to pass in time, so you mustn’t let it damage your confidence. What acne treatments do you find useful?
