What Is Hormonal Acne?
It’s pretty much what it sounds like. It’s your hormones having an imbalance and are fluctuating. Hormonal Acne occurs with women as well as men but women are the main victims of hormonal acne
When the hormones are imbalanced this can appear as spots which generally appear around the jaw.
Hormones can produce an excess amount of oil and this is perfect for bacteria to live and settle. However, bacteria won’t only cause breakouts, stress and diet can also influence hormones in a negative manner which result in breakouts.
The typical age for our hormonal acne to take place is at our teen years, puberty. Our body is changing and this change causes many side effects and this can appear as acne.
If you have scaring from acne, there are many ways to treat acne scars.
Foods To Avoid
Sugar
Sugar breaks down quickly and easily in the body. Sparking insulin levels, and sugar levels of-course going through the rough. This in turn will cause a hormone imbalance and fluctuation and result in acne. So you should be avoiding the cookie jar and that tempting chocolate muffin, instead don’t buy those treats or-else temptation will take over. (Trust me it will.)
Dairy
Avoid dairy, although there has been no factual evidence that dairy causes acne, many theories have been created. For example:
A-lot of the milk we consume comes from pregnant cows and this milk now contains hormones that can disrupt our hormone balance into unstable states. Milk also has growth hormones that can encourage the overgrowth of skin cells.
many people including myself can bare testimony to the fact, when going days without dairy the skin clears-up. And again there is no solid proof of this, but many theories and testaments can serve as evidence that dairy causes acne and hormonal spikes.
Fast Food
Fast food is something you definitely want to avoid. Greasy food will certainly create and increase inflammation in our body, leading to breakouts. Replace your fast food with delicious protein such as oven chicken and grilled salmon, healthy foot doesn’t have to be nasty food. If you are going to a fast food joint or a restaurant, make sure you ordered something healthy like a salad or a mouth watering grilled chicken (YUM, YUM).
What Can I Do To Get Rid Of My Hormonal Acne?
If your Hormones are at an imbalance, it makes sense to look to solutions which would get the hormones back in balance.
There are many treatments out there which advertise to get your hormones back in check and the main supplement people take to do this, are multi-vitamins. Taking multi vitamins have proved over and over again to be a great way to solve the hormonal imbalance issue, but this isn’t the case with everyone.
Foods To Incorporate Into Your Lifestyle
Fruits & vegetables
Fruits & vegetables are packed with nutrients containing vitamins and minerals, especially citrus fruits like lemons and oranges which are high in vitamin C, A and anti-oxidants. Eating fruits and veggies will eventually clear up acne and balance hormone levels.
Green Tea
Green tea is also packed with antioxidants, making it a great way to flush out toxins in the body. Being close to nature is always a good sign that you are doing something helpful to your body and increasing its longevity. Fish
Fish is another way to balance hormones and clear up the skin. Our diets can contain a-lot of fat but how many of us get the right fats…?
Well, not many at all. Fish contains omega-3 fats which can help battle inflammation taking place in our bodies and decrease breakouts. Omega-3 fatty acids create stronger cells and structure of the skin.
Haven’t Got Much Time To Get Meals In?
This is the modern era and we have supplements at our finger tips. options are abundant to assist in your fight against hormonal acne.
Here are some acne fighting supplement out there on the market:
- Vitamin C tablets
- Magnesium oil
- Amino acids
- Fish oil
Taking 1 or 2 a day of these supplements a day is enough.
But be warned as giving the body too many supplements can be a waste, simply because our body can only absorb so much.
Magnesium For Acne
We would recommend taking magnesium as it dramatically assists the body in getting the hormones back in balance.
Right now you are probably magnesium deficient and here’s why…The food we consume comes from supermarkets and the process these foods go through is long, by time food reaches our plates, it’s stripped from magnesium because of all the processing.
Magnesium is crucial! It allows energy to be produced, enable muscle contraction like the heart and bone development.
As mentioned before, stress is a cause for hormonal fluctuation and results in acne, but here’s where magnesium can really help. Magnesium contains minerals which relax the body. Doctors call it “the original chill pill.” It makes the body feel good, balancing hormone levels, allows better sleep and relieves stress.
Where To Get Magnesium
There are many ways take in magnesium and these include foods such as:
- spinach
- raisins
- avocados
- fish
- nuts
- beans
- lentils
- bananas
- seaweed
- prunes
- kale
- collar greens
And the list goes on.
As you can see, getting magnesium out of foods is certainly possible, but unless your living on a farm or growing your own, it will lack in magnesium because of the processing.
Spraying magnesium oil is a great way to concentrate magnesium into the body and certainly a supplement that’s helped me. Purchasing a spray bottle of magnesium is certainly the best form of magnesium, going into the body and really rejuvenating the skin.
Apply 10 sprays of magnesium and rub it into the body, most likely you will start to get a tingling sensation and this is an indicator that your body lacks magnesium. Make sure to spray everyday and you will discover the benefits.
