Now that summer is over, it’s time to have a look at your winter wardrobe. Here’s are some of the things you’ll need.
Prioritise Cashmere & Wool
When it’s cold, cashmere and wool is vital. Wool is so important because the way the material is structured so that it creates pockets of air which create a form of isolation. This also makes the material very adaptable. It helps keep you warm when it’s cold and it also keeps you a little cooler if the temperature rises. An Irish fisherman sweater is a good choice if you want wool.
One of the most luxurious materials made from natural fibres is undoubtedly cashmere. The best thing about cashmere is that it looks great and it’s the most high-quality material you can find. It’s always been seen as one of the most luxurious types of material, but that comes with a big price tag too.
Invest in a New Coat
You should definitely invest in a coat if you’ve been using the same one for the last few years or more. There’s nothing more important in the winter than a great coat. Long coats can look great in the winter, but make sure you get the fit right. A lot of people say to buy a bigger size for a winter coat because you’ll be wearing lots of layers underneath. But that’s not true.
Making sure your coat fits correctly is absolutely essential. It shouldn’t be so long that the coat falls below the knee level. If it does, it will simply look too big, so don’t be tempted. Alternatively, you could go for a coat that’s a bit thicker to keep that warmth in when the cold bites.
Buy Boots
Footwear is a big consideration to make during the winter. It’s not easy to get right, but it will make a big difference. Anyone who has gone out with the wrong footwear during winter and ended up with freezing cold feet will know what I’m talking about. There’s really nothing worse than that happening.
If you ask me, the best way to keep your feet warm is to buy a good pair of high-quality boots. If you get a pair with strong leather and good lining inside, they should stay in good, usable condition for a long time. So, make sure you buy a strong pair rather than going for a cheaper option.
Wear Interesting Shirts
Just because it’s cold, that doesn’t mean you have to hide behind lots of layers of dull, boring clothes. You can wear lots of different types of clothes with all sorts of patterns and colours. Don’t let the disappearance of the sun and the warmth also mean the end of vibrancy for your wardrobe.
If anything, you should make even more of an effort to make your clothes feel vibrant and alive. Picking out a bright and great looking shirt in the morning is one of the best ways of perking yourself up on a cold, harsh winter day. So, don’t cover yourself in dull, boring colours!
