There’s plenty of fashion and styling advice out there for women, but it can be a little trickier when it comes to men.
Unless you’re willing to try out the newest trendy hair/ facial hair style or experiment with a wacky clothing trend, it can seem as though none of it is much use. Not that there’s anything wrong with having fun with your look, but maybe you just want to look your best while still keeping it simple. If so, here are a few ideas for how you can look sharp without the fuss.
Hair/ Facial Hair
These days, the world is your oyster when it comes to facial hair. Anything from clean shaven to a full beard is acceptable, the trick is just to keep it neat and tidy. Invest in some good tools to give you the look you want, whether it’s a sharp razor to clean shave, an electric razor to give you stubble or scissors to trim your beard. When it comes to hair, many men can fall into the trap of keeping the same hairstyle they’ve always had. Most men by the age of thirty-five have some degree of hair loss so a style that takes this into consideration can be a smart move. Often wearing it longer and ‘holding onto what you still have’ can make it look more obvious. You don’t have to completely shave it, but a more flattering style could make you feel more confident. If you have gained or lost any weight in recent years, your hairstyle may need to change too. A barber will be able to recommend a style which suits your face shape and features best. If you choose a low maintenance style, you won’t look scruffy after a few weeks when it hasn’t been cut. Unless you don’t mind sitting in the barber’s chair very regularly, choose something that still looks good when it grows out a little.
Nice teeth are consistently rated amongst the top features that people like in someone of the opposite sex. Having your teeth fixed will not only make you look more attractive and feel more confident, but you’re likely to do better when it comes to dating too. Dentists can work miracles these days, so if you’re unhappy with your smile, it’s worth going in and asking what they can do. Invisible braces can help straighten crookedness and people won’t even be able to tell you’re wearing them. You can learn more about removable braces here if this is something that would work for you. If you have staining or chips in your front teeth, veneers can give you a stunning and even ‘Hollywood smile.’ Otherwise, a whitening treatment will lift the colour if your smile has started looking dull over the years.
If you find fashion a bit of a minefield, your best bet is to keep it simple. Black or navy jeans with Converse, a t-shirt, and a jacket will always work well and is the perfect casual outfit. Always try clothes on before you buy, it can be a pain but getting the fit right is the most important thing. Whether you’re very slim, bigger built or somewhere in between, a good fit will make the most of your shape.
